The Spurs aren't a threat in the West until LaMarcus Aldridge steps up – Stephen A. | First Take – San Antonio Video

Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman reflect on the long-term success of Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs since the days of David Robinson and Tim Duncan. Stephen A. says none of that will matter in the 2019 NBA Playoffs if LaMarcus Aldridge disappears in a potential series vs. the Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets.

  3. I think the issue is that Stephen A. didn't watch the Golden State series last year when Kawhi sat out the season…. LA stepped up & made it competitive. He didn't show up in 2017 vs. GS when they lost Kawhi to Zaza, but his "disappearance" isn't a rule thing.

The Spurs have the tools to challenge any team if they keep the defensive intensity. They have length, they have shooting outside their top 2 players, & they have chemistry. Oh yeah, don't forget about Pop. The West is loaded this year & the Spurs are gunna make it that much harder to advance

  4. Is this a joke? He does realise that the Spurs just beat Golden state right? LaMarcus is avg 21/9, and they're in a play off seed. The issue is that the starting line consists of LaMarcus and Demar, and the bench is Bertans, Mills and Rudy. They're team has noone on it, if Spurs get Kemba, and some other decent role players/shooters. Then they'll come for the title. I think the reason LaMarcus isn't putting up 30/15/8 every game is cause there's no reason to do it

  6. Confirmed: Espn doesn’t watch any other team other then the Lakers. Lamarcus Aldrige has been a beast all year tf you talking about he needs to step up? He actually did well in the playoffs last year as well. It was the 2016 when he was awful in the playoffs. So wtf is SAS talking about Aldridge has been stepping up for two years now

  11. So many haters on here. What SAS said about LaMarcus Aldridge is correct. He has been beyond suspect in the PLAYOFFS with the Spurs. So much so that Greg Popovich called him out publicly MULTIPLE TIMES! Its not about what he is doing right now. Its about what he is doing in the playoffs and if he can remain CONSISTENT. A lot of you guys have no idea what you're talking about and just hate on SAS because he speaks on something like racial inequality for a quick moment as a RESPONSE to what Max brought up. Do you guys even ready your comments?

  24. The whole team can shoot threes but aldridge and derozan are better at midrange so thats what they go for to set up the rest of the offenses 3 pointers the spurs offense works only because of them, im dome watching this show i bet they think the nuggets are contenders even though they cant beat a good team lmao. I think they havent watched enogh of the spurs this season to judge them 👿
